Thunivu is vinoths forte ! Vinoth is not just another filmmaker he is a man who really has a concern on the people for who he makes films without just telling a fictional / non fictional story he tries to bring in a thing which each and everyone watching his film will have it in or around thier life and he tries to give us a microscopic view of the things we pass on and sends us out where we can never see the thing same as we saw before. Here he takes the banking/financial sector and slaps on the face without hidden layers or indirect attack he just points everysingle flaw of the sector with accuracte details. I am sure every bigshots will have thier roots shaken after the films impact. Even a small explanation of a scene or set piece can turn out to be a spoiler. Now the showrunner AK/ Ajith kumar this is for sure the best of his films in the past decade after mangatha without any partialities he plays the role without adding or reducing the impact everything vinoth has written is presented so perfectly by AK that we can never find a single flaw in the performance. The laid back performance of him in the recent films left many unsatisfied for those thunivu is the solution for satisfaction everything he does on screen is admirable everything he has been trolled for has worked out as a magic on screen here for example the dance for which he is mostly trolled works out magically in thunivu for sure this is AK & Vinoths Show. Happy that they are parting with this film. Manju warrier is equally magnificant and presents her on screen as equally as ak without any challenge in portyal and she has just killed it every scene she comes she owns it and holds it. Samuthrakani as commisioner is a perfect cast for the role he played the part so perfectly. Every cast in the film is a plus even for a 1 min apperance they grab attention everything around and in the film is done so carefully to avoid flaws/trolls and they have done it perfection. Special and huge respect for niravsah sir and supreme sundar master they are the other two pillars of the films like vinoth and AK thier contribution to the film is humangous and adds topnotch quality in technalities also the edit was so sharp not even a single frame wasted or was inserted unwantedly. Gibhran weightlifts the whole film with his score and the placement of songs were also never forced. To end Thunivu is a perfect vinoth film which was expected from his last 2 films he without deviations gives his best and once again a huge star and a director coming together to address the issue of a comman man will surely sow a fear in the systems that are questioned.

In February 2022, Ajith's 61st film in a leading role was announced as the film's tentative title, and the official title was announced in September of that year. Hyderabad and Bangkok served as the locations for principal photography, which began in April and ended in October. Work on post-production began toward the end of October and was completed in December.
Thunivu received mixed reviews from audiences and critics when it was released theatrically on January 11, 2023, during the week of Pongal.
